The Jennie Alexander (JA) chair is the first non-Windsor chair I’ve made. These are “post and rung” chairs, the horizontal members being rungs and the vertical ones being posts. These chairs are more rustic than the Windsors, but are amazingly comfortable, not to mention being surprisingly light. Three different seating materials are shown here: flat reed, hickory bark, and paper splint. They are all comfortable and long lasting. In addition, these chairs are not painted, and can be made from a variety of woods - red oak and white ash are shown here.
